Being mistaken for your daughter's sister is the ultimate compliment - and for one duo, a daily occurrence.
Georgie
Smedley, 42, and daughter Jazz, 19, have become accustomed to incessant
comparisons and confusion from strangers, colleagues and even family
who often mistaken them not only for sisters, but for twins.
And
with both women sporting matching fiery hair, measuring in at nearly
the same height, weight, and shoe size - as well as sounding alike -
it's not hard to see why.
Standing
at 5ft 3in, with natural strawberry-blonde hair and a slim size 8
figure, Jazz's resemblance to her mother - with her cherry-red locks and
5ft 2in measurements - is uncanny.
Speaking
to FEMAIL about their resemblance, Georgie admits: 'We get told we look
like sisters all the time - to the point where I get embarrassed.
'It's nice for me, but because it happens so often, it must get a bit annoying for Jazz.'
Adding
to the confusion, Georgie, who is the director of beauty brand Nail
Harmony HQ, even works in the same building as her daughter.
But the pair have revealed that the constant comparisons have only been a recent development.
Back
in 2012, mother-of-two Georgie underwent gastric bypass surgery, and
it's the resulting weight loss that they attribute to the similarities
in appearance.
Mother-of-two Georgie (right in both pictures) regularly borrows her 19-year-old daughter's Jazz's clothes
Georgie (right), 42, admits that she
began resembling her daughter more after she had gastric bypass surgery
and lost four and a half stone
The
42-year-old used to be a size 14 and due to the surgery, shed a
staggering four and a half stone, dropping down to her daughter's lithe
size 8 frame.
'In
my mind, a lot of the resemblance comes from the weight I lost back in
2012, due to having a gastric bypass in 2012,' Georgie said.
'I shrunk so much that I had to completely change my wardrobe, and Jazz helped me pick out new things.'
Jazz
agrees, adding: 'I've always thought I look like her facially, but when
she lost all the weight, you could really see the resemblance.
'She felt more confident with the weight loss so she was dressing better.
Georgie (left), 42, and Jazz (second
left), 29, could pass for the same age sitting together at a work
function with X Factor contestant Fleur East (second from right)
Jazz (left) has said that her mother
(right) used to be swathed in 'baggy clothes' but gained a new-found
confidence after her weight-loss
'She went from wearing baggy clothes all the time to basically sharing my wardrobe!
'Every time we go to the airport, we get asked if we're sisters, and we have even been asked if we're twins, once or twice.'
After
the surgery, it even became difficult for Georgie's husband and Jazz's
father, Jason, to immediately distinguish between the pair.
Jazz
explains: 'Dad says that we look alike a lot actually. When she first
had the surgery, he said "I cant tell you apart!", and we also sound
quite similar, which doesn't help.'
While
Georgie refrains from going on actual nights out with her 19-year-old
daughter, the pair regularly attend work functions together - and
dressed up, it is even harder to tell the two apart.
With
their identically toned figures, the pair are often seen in
slim-fitting gowns, bodycon dresses and fashion-forward ensembles.
The pair even have similar flame-coloured hair. Pictured with Jazz's younger seven-year-old sister, Eliza
And it's not just colleagues and family members that have noticed.
The
pair are often the subject of male attention on evenings out - but
despite their uncanny similarity, Georgie modestly insists that it is
all wholly focused on her daughter.
Georgie adds: 'I notice she [Jazz] gets a lot of looks from men. She says I do as well, but I don't really think so.
'It's not like I'm looking anyway; I'm not that way inclined!'
Georgie, 42, has been married to husband and father of Jazz, Jason Smedley, since she was 18.
And 19-year-old Jazz is similarly lucky in love, engaged to boyfriend Michael, who she is due to marry next year.
While
Georgie benefits from being compared to her teenage daughter, who is 23
years her junior, having a younger mother has not always worked to
Jazz's advantage.
The two also get a lot of male attention on nights out but both are in happy relationships
Jazz, 19 (right), admitted that when
she first met her boyfriend Michael, he thought she was older than her
42-year-old mother (left)
Jazz
explained: 'I met my boyfriend Michael in February last year and it's
quite a funny story, because it was at a work function and my mum was
also there.
'He thought that I was the older one, and because of this he was worried he wouldn't have a chance with me!
'But now, he always says that he likes coming around because my mum's really cool.'
And
while Georgie's youthful appearance will make her the envy of many
women of her age, she insists that there is no magic formula.
'Apart from the gastric bypass, I haven't had any cosmetic work. Definitely no Botox or anything like that,' she explained.
'I don’t try too hard with my skin but I do use products from French skin care range Yon-Ka.'
